I collect....

I am a bower bird. I collect lots of things including blue glass. I don't know why I collect what I do.....I just do. I collect chickens & roosters, dice, sea glass, pixie & elf statues, blue & white china, little vintage animal statues, mammys, dictionaries, knucklebones or jacks as I call them, kitchenalia, bluebirds, furbies, vintage magazines, spotty china, Enid Blyton books, books on the baby boomer generation, wade whimsies, Diana pottery and the list goes on and on. This must be why my hubby constantly says "can you just get rid of some of your crap!" It has become apparent to me that he does not share my love of collecting.

The Blues Brothers

Jye and Josh as The Blues Brothers. I adored this getup.

Fancy Dress

In my family we all love to dress up. Well most of us anyhow....Josh isn't too keen but we usually talk him into it. The boys always have dress up themed birthday parties and so do their friends. Me, I just like to make the costumes. Jye and Josh as Chewbacca, this was for their friend Haddens' star wars party to celebrate his 8th rotation of the sun. I found the fur in an op shop and I created the masks from Homer Simpson masks.

My Three Sons

My three boys. Corey 19, Jye 8 and Joshua 7.

Home Sweet Home

This is our Home. We knew it was the right house to make a home and raise our three boys in it the moment we saw it. That was four years ago. Now I'm not so sure. I love it but sometimes the constant renovating projects really get me down and I long for the modern brick box on a flat block. Our house was built about 1929 so its a fair age. It has wide Kauri pine floorboards, fireplaces and 11 foot ceilings and therefore has character but at the same time there is always something to be done and never enough money to pay for it. We live on a hill and sometimes I find myself thinking of it being like a lighthouse with all of the steps up to the front door. I suppose the main thing is it's home to us and I have of course filled it to the brim with my collections of every type. This is also known as clutter and crap by my husband.

The Reasoning of The Name

I have had numerous blogs before this one but finally I have the blog for me. A big thanks to my sister Jullie who has spent the whole day creating my lovely header and getting me back into blogging. Mwah big kiss to Jullie for all of her hard work.

I have called it Spotty Dotties and Psycho cats for many reasons. I love anything with polka dots especially retro kitsch type things and yes sometimes these things are very daggy but I just love anything spotted. Except teenagers of course coz they are pretty yukky sometimes. I was one of course but when I was one I wasn't a yukky one. Okay well I was a bit yukky and spotty but I still like spots. Ok now we have the spotty dottie bit sorted let me explain the psycho cats part.
I currently own two wonderful cats that are sometimes a little bit strange. As far back as I can remember I have always had at least one cat. My cats have never been your boring snoozy type of lazy cat that you most often find. Mine have always been psycho cats. I currently have Fifi Trixie Bella Lamore more commonly known as Peeps or Mim a rather large Tabby cat. (yes she has a weight problem but we are working on it) I also have Stella Phyllis Luba a beautiful blue persian who was dumped outside my house and who I just had to adopt because I could do nothing else. So thats it! thats the explanation for the name weird as it sounds now I'm sure it all makes perfect sense.
